Easy method to cook quinoa

Many quinoa recipes use quinoa that has already been been cooked and prepared before including in a recipe. This is why you hear people talking about cooking quinoa twice. When you have prepared the quinoa in this way it is ready to be put into all sorts of dishes replacing rice and cous cous as a base for meals. You can keep the cooked quinoa in the fridge to use with salads. chop up some peppers, spring onions and celery and you have a complete meal.
Step 1
Rinse the quinoa in a fine seive with cold water. You may need to do this a second time to be sure the coating is removed. The rinsing method is needed for fresh non manufactured type quinoa. it is an important cooking stage.

Measure out one cup of quinoa to two cups of water into a saucepan.
Step 3
Bring the mixture to the boil, stirring gently to ensure it does not stick to the pan. Once it boils, turn the temperature down and let it simmer for ten to fifteen minutes. If yuou want it crunchy then ten minutes will be enough – if you want it soft and fluffy then leave it to cook for longer. All the water should beabsorbed while the quinoa is simmering. The quinoa will double in size during cooking. Take the pan with the quinoa off the cooker.
Step 4
Your quinoa is now ready to serve as a substitute for rice with curry and other dishes. This special grain is very versatile and be incorporated into many recipes and meals. The taste of quinoa doesn’t dominate the recipes, its tends to blend in with other ingredients. You will no go hungry with this grain as it is substantial and filling.
